Instead, we spend 3 months each year visiting remote mountain plantations in the world's prized coffee regions. Sometimes the going is rough, but it's worth it! Here, we work with the few remaining Arabica bean growers who still plant superior crops to yield more intense flavors, not simply more beans. We've gladly maintained these exceptional farms so that the art of cultivating true gourmet coffees will not be lost. Over time, we've established the highest standards of responsible farming and fair employment, and funded social programs to support community healthcare and education. Our rewards are many. There are over 740 identified flavor elements in a good cup of coffee. Yet most people experience less than half. Why? To save money, many companies under-roast their beans, leaving most flavors undeveloped. Others over-roast or burn cheaper quality beans to mask inferior flavors. Our 100% gourmet-quality Arabica beans deserve better. So we use age-old techniques to patiently slow-roast each variety to it's highest flavor point. And to protect delicate nuances that add so much character, we ensure a perfect roast with customized monitoring technology. Warm from the roaster, each batch is vacuum sealed for freshness. (The bag is soft on purchase because gasses escape as the beans cool.) And when you open that bag, mmmm, the aroma tells you right away, this is going to be good! And it is. Our beans are darker than other brands, with more intense flavors.
