Escudo Rojo Vintage Red Wine, Chile, 2006

Alc. 14.5% by vol. Famous for two centuries, first in banking, then in wine, the Rothschild name comes from the German phrase DAs Rote Schild, a reference to the red shield which originally served as the family sign. Escudo Rojo is the literal Spanish Translation. A fine blended red wine, Escudo Rojo combines the richness of Chile's vineyards with the technical skill of Baron Philippe de Rothschild, SA. It is made from four traditional grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. Planted on rigorously selected, low-yield parcels of the vineyard, the grapes are hand-picked and each variety is vinified separately in our bodega. The wine is then blended and matured for about 12 months in French oak. A wine of intense aromatic complexity, Escudo Rojo has a well-balanced structure and a long, lingering finish with plenty of ageing potential. It can be enjoyed for several years. Produce of Chile.
